Customer service

O.K. so, I go to my favorite pizza joint.  Now, get this I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years.  I used to go there for the spaghetti special when my daughter was a little girl.  Tonight was Lasagna special night.  I figure why not haven't been in a few months.  I order the vegetarian version.  I wait for my food to arrive after eating my salad.  Looks good I think to myself.  So I take a bite..sauce lots of cheese and SAUSAGE! What! I ordered vegetarian.  Hmm so now I am trying to get the attention of one of the three people that work there.  Finally, I get one.  She seems nice and of course takes it back to the kitchen.  I wait a while and she reappears to offer the new guy screwed up the order thing.  Then she brings me the correct one.  I eat now I am expecting either a complimentary desert or a deduction from the bill.  To my surprise neither happened.  I did not even get the usual mints.  I leave and now am thinking I will be calling the owner tomorrow.  I personally do not care if the waitress, cook or the one that brought the entre' to me messed up the order.  Thank me for my patience and make me want to come back.  Don't act like the customer should put up with errors.  Just my thinking that in a day and age when businesses are failing in alarming numbers that no business would want to chase away customers.

Is it alright to steal if you are hungry?

Today as I was shopping I watched the police arrest a woman for stealing a package of lunch meat, a quart of milk and a small box of crackers. I was heart broken that a senior would have to resort to this. I was shocked that the store would actually press charges on this incident. I know they have to draw the line. I also know that we have to have compassion and look at the whole picture. I could really understand their stance if she had stolen alcohol, steaks or more expensive items. But it appeared the lunch meat was bologna. It also appeared it was intended to last her for several meals. By having her arrested for petty theft seemed such a waste of taxpayer money.

But, I am also happy to report that due to more than one person offering to pay for her meager items she was released and not charged. Public out cry can in fact make a situation better for at least one person.

Change is what we need to happen in our society. The republicans feel people in need should not be helped. I say they are ever so wrong. I feel we all could have circumstances that could put us in this situation on any given day.

There are so many people that are disabled but yet they are not on disability due to it taking years for the approval process. There are many who lost their jobs and the unemployment has run out. The money they receive from general relief won't even put a roof over their heads. The shelters are over crowded. The food banks run out of food. Even the soup kitchens are unable to keep up.

I hope someone will read this and will donate either time, money or food to help keep food available for those that need it. No one should go hungry.

Let's get their attention

What if the people of the United States decided that no longer would any elected person get a salary that exceeds that of the average public service employee. In addition what if they no longer received a pension but instead paid into social security just like us. Also they would have to pay into a 401K. I say we need to draft an amendment to the state and federal constitution mandating just this. I imagine we will certainly get their attention. Let us remember politician voluntarily ask to be elected. Therefore since they feel that disabled people and seniors should be relegated to live at or below the poverty level then they should join them. I for one am appalled at seeing disabled people and seniors living on the streets because they receive less than $1000.00 and are unable to pay for housing, food and medical related items. Housing assistance for them is unavailable. The lists are closed and there is a waiting list upwards of ten years on the existing lists. SSDI is denying disability claims which is adding to the situation. When people get older they should be able to enjoy their grand children not work until the day they die. We need to get back to good paying jobs that also have a retirement plan that actually invites people to retire. I know people who just keep working as the longer they work the more their pensions will be. That needs to be changed so that the job they are holding will be available for the younger workers. That is one of the reasons there is a job shortage people have to work well past the age or retirement. If they are bored there is always mentoring or volunteering.

When the pet food recall broke on national news I had already lost my beloved Sara Lee a Persian mix Torti..She loved to give kisses and jump up into my arms. Sara died just days before the news story broke. We had no idea that it was the food she and her siblings were eating that was making them sick. Immediately I took my other three kitties to the doctors.

Snow White was the worst she had to stay for almost two weeks in the hospital. Parker and Little Guy were not as bad and were put on medication. I at first was hesitant to feed my cats any commercial food. I cooked chicken and veggies etc for a few months then I found Halo. I honestly feel that Halo gave me an additional year+ with Snow White and Little Guy. Parker passed away just last month his kidneys just could not come back again. I am greatful that I found Halo. I spent less time cooking and more time cuddling with my furry family. I miss them all greatly. But, I now have Miss Grace. Yes, she is eating Halo. Thank you Halo for giving me more time with my other three and hopefully Miss Grace will live a very long time.

Guarding your words

I just have to give a high five to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for putting the tabloids and press on notice. It seems responsible journalists take the easy way out and just blurt out as well. It does not matter to me where you get unverified information. The first rule of great journalists is to check your sources, after all your reputation is on the line. That is why I am giving all so called journalist, gossip mongers etc the kitty poop award, yep that is right a good old ripe one right from Sir Parker himself. Whew if you know what I mean. This is definitely a day for the books.

What really saddens me in this is the many people out there that read the tabloids and hang on every word...well they are quite possibly the same one who think that all the characters they see on T.V. are real too.

Celebrities are no different than anyone else their jobs are to entertain us. There are those that feel they have a right to know all the details of their private lives. Wrong, when they are on the red carpet, at a celebrity gathering or on a set and etc. then by all means. But when they are out with their family shopping or in the park show then the respect that you would want when you are out on similar outings. Would you really want that snooping neighbor or your boss in your business all the time.

At the expense of the children, seniors and disabled

Why is it that any state in USA would even contemplate taking away benefits from the groups that are not in a position to fully defend themselves. Children, seniors and the disabled should be our highest priority. How is it that we expect them to be the ones living in poverty or worse living on the streets. While we have prisons that are housing illegal aliens and resident aliens who have violated the laws. Once they are convicted they are subject to deportation. Instead of tax dollars being used to house them and feed, clothe and provide medical care for them we need to deport them immediately. Instead of transporting them to prison transport them to the border or put them on a plane to their home country. Then place them on the no fly list so they cannot come back unless they do it the right way. Those that are felons are baned for good. I know what it feels like to have a family member deported. But the bottom line is he was here illegally. He was sent home to Canada and my sister joined him. That is the law. I still believe this to be the way to do this. If anyone wants to come here do it the right way and obey the laws while you are here. Those that come here illegally do impact our country. They commit fraud when they obtain false documents for the purpose of working etc. This can and does create problems for the person whose social security number is being used. It could cause them to be billed for failing to pay taxes on the extra income they are not aware of. Some of them also get a fake drivers license and are driving on our streets. They also congest apartments with multiple occupants that are meant for 1-3 people but they have 8-10 sleeping on floors etc. this impacts the owner of the building as there is excessive water use that gets passed on to the other tenants in the building. They also cause wages to drop in many job areas including construction, janitorial department stores and security jobs as well as restaurants and many more. There are many wealthy people that hire them as well to clean houses, cook and care for their children as well as grounds maintenance etc. This directly causes the pay for these jobs to drop. This is a travesty as they are being exploited by the people who hire them.

DADT and the military

DADT is needing a wake up call. It is a simple process to implement the acceptance of gays in the military. The arguments being used against gays in the military is the same one that was used to prevent women from serving, then to keep women from serving in combat. The military was not reportedly an environment for women. News flash people they serve very valiantly in all branches. I know as I was one. During the time when I served woman were only permitted to be on military bases or hospital ships. Now look at us. So ladies and gentlemen it is time for the United States of America to truly apply the U.S.Constitution to all citizens equally in all states governed by it. Discrimination can no longer be tolerated in the name of religion as this country is supposed to be inclusive of the right to religious freedom as well. It is time for all of the elected people and those who are appointed to put all people above their personal beliefs. Please don't forget to make sure that any military person who was discharged under DADT is asked if they would like to be re-instated to their previous position. This too is the right thing to do. Then there needs to be a directive that no state constitution can undermine the U.S. Constitution. They can extend more rights but not less.

Imagine if you will that if this country could truly show the world that we are not only a Democratic society but as a truly equal one as well.

We have seen what happens when a particular religion dictates the direction a country is going. That being Iraq. Isn't it about time to stop the religious wars.

Just get it done now. Then get on with creating hundreds of thousands of jobs immediately.
